We have seen the enemy, and it is...them

Apparently, you have to be a republican to be an American

An essay in American Mind, a conservative journal, contains the following observation from Glenn Ellmers:  "Most people living in the United States today--certainly more than half--are not Americans in any meaningful sense of the term.  They do not believe in, live by, or even like the principles, traditions, and ideals that until recently defined America as a nation and as a people."

Translation:  If you're not a racist, homophobic misogynist (preferably white and male, but white and female will be acceptable) you're not a real American.

This sentiment is neither surprising nor new.  The republican party has been mining this gold for their base voters since at least the Nixon Presidency, and it is not a minority viewpoint within their party.  The only thing that has changed in the last fifty years is that, thanks to Donald Trump, republicans now feel free to let their racist and fascist flags fly at will.

It does, however, make it increasingly difficult to see a path forward for America when approximately fifty percent of our countrymen either accept or are willing to ignore that the principles of their party are the exact same principles as those that drove the Nazis into power in 1930's Germany.

And anyone who believes republicans are not capable of genocide on a scale that would dwarf the Holocaust has not been paying attention.

You Have a Choice:  Pass a Voting Rights Bill, or Welcome Fascism to America

Peace,
