No Kings: The aftermath

It was a beautiful day!

Random thoughts from my youngest son's and my foray into our local No Kings protest:

1)  Really surprised at the excellent turnout.  Not an expert, but I'd guess around a thousand people.  That's not bad for a small community like Lake Orion.

2) Signs, signs, everywhere a sign.  From the clever to the humorous, from warnings to promises, people put a lot of time and effort into making their statements.

3)  Best sign:  "Trump should win the Nobel Piece of Shit Prize."

4)  Stunned there wasn't a counter protest of any kind.  There were a couple of young men walking among us with MAGA hats on who managed to (very peacefully) engage a few of the No Kings protesters, but for the most part they were ignored.  Really wondering if Trump's colossal shitshow is beginning to wear on even his supporters.

5)  The most amazing part of the day was all the honking and thumbs up and clapping and picture taking we got from the cars driving past.  For every person who gave us the finger, there were at least a hundred cars cheering us on.  There are indeed more of us than there are of them.

6)  Lots of props to the Lake Orion police.  They stayed out of the way and even pulled over some asshole who sprayed us with black smoke from his beater of a truck. Got a standing ovation for their troubles.  Lawless, my ass....

7)  If the best response to our protest you can muster is to give us the finger, your movement is some pretty weak sauce.  No effort to counter protest, no effort to make signs, no effort to try to show even the slightest bit of ingenuity.  No shit they're attracted to a fat ass lazy slob like Trump--birds of a feather.

8)  We lost the last twenty minutes of our protest to a rainstorm, but as my youngest son and I were preparing to leave the clouds opened up a bit, the sun snuck its head through, and in the distance, we could see a rainbow.  That, my loyal readers, is what you call a very good sign.

We ended the day filled with hope that we can turn this thing around.  And I believe we will.

America?  Hell, yeah!

Fuck Donald Trump

Peace,
emaycee
