Sarah, plain and dull

A real President

In his new book, Promised Land, President Barack Obama reminisced about how the republican slide into lunacy began with Sarah Palin.

This apparently hurt snowflake (is it okay if I call you Sarah?) Sarah's feefees, and she went on Newsmax (what the fuck is Newsmax? I've been following politics for forty-five years and never once have I heard of Newsmax) and said how happy she was that she was living in Obama's head and that he didn't understand their movement and that she and lamebrain Donnie gave voice to the voiceless.

Where to begin?
  • Relatively certain that Obama spends close to zero time thinking about Sarah fucking Palin.  If I recall correctly he actually had a country to run over his two terms, while Sarah was busy...not being able to complete one term as Governor of the sprawling state of Alaska.
  • As far as Obama being unable to grasp their "movement," he must have at least grasped the family values part.  If I'm not mistaken, unlike Sarah, the Obama marriage has actually survived and neither of his daughters have had a child out of wedlock.
  • As for those voiceless folks?  That would be racists--who if we truly had a competent media, would have remained in the sewer where they belong.
  • Obama is so out of touch that he was busy this past fall campaigning to overflow crowds for Joe Biden while the most notable achievement Palin has over the past several years was a picture with two of the lamest rock stars ever, Kid Rock and Ted Nugent, in the Oval Office.
  • One thing that Obama understands is because of his intelligence, success, and charisma that he doesn't have to embarrass himself singing out of tune on a lame ass show like The Masked Singer.
  • Did I mention that Palin's movement was so successful that Democrats have now won the White House three out of the last four elections?
Frankly, Sarah should hop back on the train to Loserville because that's where she and landslide loser Donnie belong.

Pure Michigan pukes

Four celebrities in search of a brain...

What a day for Michigan--the two worst musicians to ever come out of the Wolverine state got their picture taken with the two worst leaders in the history of American politics!

Though if ever you wanted tips on how to be talentless and dim-witted, the Oval Office was the place to be today--four experts were on hand to share their expertise....

The kiss of death for Donald Trump's candidacy

As the man who had Sarah Palin as the GOP nominee in 2012, and was certain it was going to be Jeb! Bush in 2016, I am now going to do what no heinous statement from Donald Trump, or vicious act of one of his followers, has thus far been able to do:  kill his campaign.

I am really beginning to believe that Trump can win the republican nomination.

Ted Cruz may be the candidate du jour for the scared GOP establishment, and the current leader in Iowa, but we've seen how republican establishment candidates fare in the general election (see also:  McCain, John and Romney, Willard) and how republican campaigns fade into oblivion after winning the Iowa Caucus (see also:  Huckabee, Mike and Santorum, Rick).  Ben Carson is as crazy as a shit house rat, but he's neither white enough nor angry enough to pacify republicans' main voters:  angry, white men.  Rubio has shown again and again that he's a lightweight, and if he doesn't like the work that goes into being a U.S. Senator, he's going to like being President of the United States a lot less (it's 24/7/365, Marco--think!).  And the rest?  Well, if you're polling in the low single digits at this point, you can turn out the lights:  the party is over.

The possibility of a brokered convention  has been discussed of late, but there hasn't been one since before I was born (1959), and one could easily see the republican base going full on ape shit if it feels its chosen candidate has been screwed out of the nomination.

And that leaves republicans one Donald J. Trump as their Presidential nominee in 2016.

God only knows who he'll pick for his V.P.

Two Americas

Good America:

After fourteen-year-old Ahmed Mohamed was arrested for um, building a clock, there was an outpouring of support for the young man, including President Obama who invited him to the White House, Hillary Clinton who sent a supportive tweet, and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg who asked to meet him.  At one point, tweets for #IStandWithMohamed reached two thousand per minute.  Those who understand that Mohamed is symbolic of the best of what America is rightfully called into question the actions of his school and police in Irving, Texas.

Seriously Fucked Up America:

And then there were those for whom the thought that someone with brown skin and a religion not toeing the Christianity line couldn't possibly be up to any good.  An American kid amazingly turning a pencil box into a clock becomes a Muslim terrorist making a bomb.  And they actually defended the absolutely ludicrous actions of both the school and local police.  A perfect example of this is this nonsensical piece written by--who else?--Sarah Palin in which she manages zero coherent sentences and about as much inventiveness and logic as could be created by your average earthworm.  And, as Digby notes in the above link, there were plenty of comments in support of her blaming everything that's wrong in America on Muslims and President Obama, instead of on the backs of folks like her whose hatefulness and ignorance are truly to blame.

There's a meme going around that the support for candidates such as Donald Trump and Ben Carson is merely a reflection of the fringe right and not indicative of the republican party as a whole.  Nothing could be more decidedly wrong--the Tea Party is the republican party in its entirety.

They're just more honest about their beliefs and aims than establishment republicans.

Republican leadershit

Sarah Palin this week announced that she wants to be Donald Trump's Secretary of Energy, apparently believing she's qualified because she's pumped gas into her car a time or two.  Of course, Palin--sort of like her stint as the "Governor" of Alaska--only wants to be Secretary long enough to disband the department so she can get back to making tons of money being the tea party's moronic mouthpiece.

And that my friends, for all their talk about leadership, is the republican party's "leadership" in a nutshell.  Frankly, they couldn't lead a pack of Cub Scouts in the singing of "God Bless America" unless there was some money to further line their pockets with.

And in the end, they'd still fail.

On Rachel Dolezal

There are people who are much smarter than I am when it comes to what effects the Rachel Dolezal saga will have on the NAACP and the African-American community, and what it means to African-American women.  I am not an expert on the transracial aspects of her story and couldn't begin to explain her psychological motivations, either pro or con.

But I will say this:  while it's fair politics to to have snarky comments when the opposing party has an embarrassing episode involving one of its supporting organizations, you should at least have the brains to do it for the right reasons.  The Rachel Dolezal episode is a black eye for the NAACP, but it is not indicative of Liberals, does not have anything to do with political correctness, and I will flat fucking guarantee you that this country's Civil Rights pioneers are not rolling over in their graves concerning it, despite Sarah Palin's wildest dreams..  It is no more an indictment of the Democratic Party than Denny Hastert's child molestation allegations are an indictment of the republican party (unless it proven that the powers that be in the republican party were aware of such allegations).

Besides, at least when we screw up it's in the name of helping others--unlike conservatism, it is not a core principle of Liberalism to fuck over the American people whenever the opportunity arises.

Please please me

As I was driving to work yesterday, I drove past Loserville, Population 2--a.k.a., a booth with a couple of doofuses calling for the impeachment of President Obama, replete with big ass pictures of the President with a Hitler mustache.

Yikes.

This seems to be a republican theme of late, with the Queen of Dunceville, Sarah Palin, calling for Obama's impeachment over his immigration policies and proving she knows two words of Spanish ("no" and "mas").  Her would be protege, pretender and republican candidate for Senator from Iowa, Joni Ernst, was also caught this week calling for Obama's impeachment earlier this year.

This is one republican initiative that I could not agree with more.  Please, please, please do.  Pleasepleasepleasepleasepleaseplease!

If they do--guaranteed--we take the House back in 2016, win enough Senate seats to comfortably pass the sixty vote threshhold, and Hillary Clinton wins the Electoral College in the biggest rout since Reagan annhilated Mondale.

The republican party--the gift that keeps on giving.

R-CRAP

Highlights (and judging from the usual lunacy, you'd think republicans were actually high) from this past weekend's CPAC convention:

  • Ted Cruz claiming that President Obama was no longer President because...I guess you have to be a republican to get it.  No one else fucking does.
  • Wayne LaPierre saying that American is fucked up, but all our problems can be solved with more guns.  With the anger most Americans feel toward them, wonder how the 1% feel about that....
  • Paul Ryan told us a story with the moral that the parents of poor kids don't love their kids as much as the parents of middle class and rich kids do.  Not particularly surprisingly, it turns out the story was, well, a lie.
  • Mitch McConnel walked on stage carrying a gun that looked like it was used on Little House on the Prairie to prove how bitchin' he was.  Note to McConnell:  only law enforcement personnel look good carrying a rifle while wearing a suit.
  • Not really sure who they hope to impress with this, but republicans sure love fellating Vladimir Putin.
  • For whatever reason, the republicans chose to use political heavyweight Sarah Palin to close their convention.  Not really sure why they'd want to use someone with all the gravitas of a cat fart, but it's good for us.
  • The yearly CPAC straw poll for President chose Rand Paul out of a long list of mental defectives as its choice for 2016.  Also good for us:  Rand Paul has as much chance of being the next President of the United States as I do.  Zero.
The only thing missing (near as I can tell) was Ted Nugent shitting his pants and chasing fourteen-year-old girls.

Can anyone explain to me how we ever lose an election to these imbeciles?

On Benghazi and bears

Lindsay Graham says it's because of Benghazi (also causes pink eye and scurvy).  The noted foreign policy expert--due to being able to see Russia from her front porch--Sarah Palin is waxing poetic because Russian autocrat Vladimir Putin wrestles bears (Will. Not. Smash. Head. Against. Wall.).  There are a couple more here if you really need more proof republicans have no business near the White House other than as tourists taking pictures.

You know what's really amazing?  That after being asleep at the wheel for 9/11, after two disastrously conducted wars in Iraq and Afghanistan  that helped to bankrupt our economy, there is anyone anywhere (outside of Putin giving a shout out to his fanboys) who would take republicans seriously when it comes to foreign policy.

It's like asking Fred Flintstone about anti-lock brakes.

A heartbeat away

You know, every time I see Steve Schmidt bloviating on MSNBC about republican party "strategy," I always change the channel.  How can you possibly take anyone seriously who thought it was a good idea to choose the mental lightweight and oh so perservering half-term Governor of Alaska to be a heartbeat away from the Presidency?

Wonder if Ms. Palin knew any of MLK's radical beliefs when she tweeted her cheers earlier today...

Poppin' Palin's bubblehead

The republican party has massive problems with women voters, non-white voters, and young voters--all of whom have many issues of importance to them--and at their yearly C-CRAP circle jerk they put Antoinette darling Sarah Palin on stage and she wants to make a big show of...fucking soda pop, specifically, the recent ban in New York City that was overturned by the courts.

In  nation suffering massive unemployment, sequestration cuts that are going to seriously affect the poor and the middle class, a debt crisis, and ever lowered living standards, Sarah Palin shows her irrelevance (and by extension, the republican party's) by discussing an issue that few people outside of the soda industry itself give two shits about.  I'm sure it got quite the cheer from the clueless 30% of Americans who call themselves conservatives (generally the same folks who believe humans and dinosaurs co-existed), but the rest of America had to have been scratching their heads and wondering, "I'm supposed to give a shit Sarah Palin took a sip from a soda cup because...?"

Whatever message Americans might have taken from the yearly conservative gathering (admittedly, not much anyway) will now be pushed back to page two thanks to a piss poor attempt at humor.  All a majority of Americans will remember is Sarah Palin sucking soda through a straw.

Well done, madame.  Bravo!

Oh, pretty please?

Seems one Charlotte Allen (never heard of her and may never again) suggested in the Los Angeles Times this week--seriously--that the ideal republican candidate in 2016 would be one Sarah Palin.  Leaving aside the fact that it's highly doubtful Palin would be willing to take a massive cut in pay for something as silly as serving her country, the main gist of Allen's contention (short version) is that since Palin is a woman, it will be much easier for women to vote for her (it wasn't the anti-woman message, it was the male messengers...riiiight).  There's some comparisons to Reagan, something about her being blue collar (again, riiiiight), having a single Mom daughter, yadda, yadda, yadda.  Nothing mind you, about her actually being qualified to be President.  Nonetheless...

I heartily endorse this proposal.  Fucking heartily.  I mean, winning back to back Presidential elections has been a real treat--and with Palin at the top of the republican ticket, it would just about guarantee a third straight Democratic victory.

I'm guessing the thinking is that after back-to-back assholes (McCain, Romney) got slaughtered by Barack Obama, it's time to give an idiot a chance.

And good fucking luck with that one.

Please, please, please...

...let Sarah Palin decide to run for President in 2012 and be the republican nominee.  The 2006 and 2008 Democratic triumphs would pale in comparison.

Did you know that Paul Revere--he of one if by land, two if  by sea fame--was actually out warning the British not to take away our guns?  Forget your knowledge of history--Sister Sarah speaks the truth.  And just in case she doesn't, her supporters are happy to rewrite Wikipedia's Paul Revere page so she actually does.  What next--are Michelle Bachman's supporters going to physically move Lexington and Concord from Massachusetts to New Hampshire to prove her right?

What's most amazing about Palin's idiocy (aside from the traditional media not calling her out on it) is how many people still support her.  I mean, for fuck's sake, I wouldn't trust the women to take care of my son's pet turtle when we go on vacation and there are people who actually think she should be President of the United States.

Utterly fucking frightening.
