Thom Tillis (R-NC), and Notre Dame President Father John Jenkins, all of whom attended, maskless, Donald Trump's Rose Garden announcement of Amy Coney Barrett's nomination to the Supreme Court, in addition to Trump, his wife Melania, and White House staff member Hope Hicks have all tested positive for COVID-19?  With heaven only knows how many more to come.

Maybe God isn't a conservative Christian after all?

That or Ruth Bader Ginsburg's lifetime of working for the betterment of others has a lot more pull with the old man than previously known....

Update 10/3/20:  Add former Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway and Trump campaign manger Bill Stepien.  Literally as I'm typing this out it's announced Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) has been diagnosed as well, though Johnson was not at the Rose Garden event--most likely caught it from an attendee.

After a week in which Donald Trump tweeted that four American congresswomen should go back to their home countries (which, for three of them, would be America) if they don't like it here, it should be noted that racism is not just endemic to Donald Trump, but to the republican party as a whole.  To wit:

• After a reporter questioned Trump's tweets, Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway questioned the reporter's ethnicity.  Racism dog whistle #1.
• Republicans voted en masse against House Democrats resolution condemning Trump for said racist tweets--even after Nancy Pelosi read for the record verbatim Trump's racist tripe.  Racism dog whistle #2.
• Even more telling, after Trump's tweets his approval rating among republicans rose by 5%--this isn't a support your leader boost, it's a we agree with your racism boost.  Racism dog whistle #3.

It's going to be increasingly hard to convince anyone other than republicans that their party has become a party of white people, by white people, and for white people and all the ugly connotations that such a party philosophy holds.

They're not infused or infested with racists--they are racists, from top to bottom.

It may well be that the Mueller Report was unable to prove that Donald Trump colluded with Russia and/or obstructed justice.  But until the full report is released, I ain't believing shit.

William Barr is not an Attorney General in the conventional sense--like Sarah Huckabee Sanders and Kellyanne Conway, as he made clear in his confirmation hearings, he is nothing more than a paid political spokesman for Donald Trump.

And since the Trump administration has made lying one of its central tenets, why on earth would anyone believe anything one of its members says concerning Trump's culpability?

I can handle the truth, but there's no way in hell I'm taking Trump's word for it.

Trump sycophant and serial liar Kellyanne Conway went on some really gullible news shows this morning to press the latest bullshit from the Trump administration:  that this weekend's murders of eleven people in a Pittsburgh synagogue was caused by the anti-religiousness of late night comedians.

Au contraite, mon frere--I'm pretty sure that if the man accused of killing eleven people because of their faith had been influenced by comedians he would have bopped them over the head with a rubber chicken or thrown a pie in their faces.

And our nation would be a much safer, though a bit sillier, place because of it.

After years of reports of serial sex abusers at Fox News and their sexual deviant President, Donald Trump, republicans are thrilled that a Democratic donor, movie producer Harvey Weinstein, is currently in shit deep trouble over his sexual assaults.

Let me school them in why there is no there, there:  A)  Unlike republicans, Democrats have immediately and definitively disavowed Weinstein, B)  They have returned all of his donations, C) Weinstein is not the leader of the Democratic Party, D) Democrats have not sent out a media whore like Kellyanne Conway to defend Weinstein's sexual perversity, and, most importantly, E) Weinstein is not the President of the United States.

Those of a certain age (polite way of saying "old") will remember Kellyanne Conway from the Clinton administration and her being a republican surrogate on anything related to the Lewinsky scandal.  She was a lying sack of shit who'd cut her own mother's heart out with a spoon if republicans paid her enough then, and she's a lying sack of shit who'd cut her own mother's heart out with a spoon if republicans paid her enough now.

There is one difference now, though--Conway is fucking nuts in addition to being a lying sack of shit...

There certainly may be a way to turn a microwave oven into a camera but one supposes that had President Obama--a President who was exceedingly competent, both mentally and as Commander-in-Chief--wanted to wiretap Donald Trump he wouldn't have turned to The Lone Gunmen .

Knowing your audience (or not)

Out of touch and soon out of time...

In response to Nordstrom's and a few other retailers dropping Ivanka Trump's clothing line due to piss poor sales, Kellanne Conway, ever the unadulterated sycophant, went on Fox News today and encouraged Trump supporters to head out to the mall and show their support for him by buying his daughter's clothing.  This caused quite the uproar, because under federal law, public servants aren't allowed to hawk goods on TV (or elsewhere).

Lost in all the legal hubbub, though, was the absurdity of the request--does Conway really think the average Fox News viewer shops at Nordstrom's?  Or that the poor white folks whose economic anxiety supposedly led to Trump's electoral college victory have the disposable income to buy upscale clothing?

They might be shopping at Old Fart's 'R' Us Discount Barn, but they sure as shit aren't paying premium prices for Trump Turds at Nordstrom's.

A very special report

After Meryl Streep's brilliant speech last night at the Golden Globes in which she questioned the future of a nation that elected a cretin who had mocked a disabled reporter, Donald Trump took to the republican Silver Liar's Playbook and tried to say that he never actually mocked said disabled reporter.  As it's on tape, Trump apologist Kellyanne Conway went on the TV shows today to tell us that since Trump is so much superior to the rest of us, we shouldn't listen to what he says, but rather should look into his heart instead.

We here at A Liberal in the Motor City decided to do just that.  Here is what we found:
