Our Holy Trinity--Whitmer, Benson, and Nessel

 Ms. Magazine this week announced their feminists of the year, and Michigan scored a well-deserved trifecta.  Governor Gretchen Whitmer, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson, and Attorney General Dana Nessel all made the list, for standing up to Donald Trump and fighting for Michiganders to receive the PPE they needed, to make our elections fair, and to prosecute Trump's lawyers for attempting to corrupt our system of government.

Not to mention the plot to kidnap Gov. Whitmer and the threats made to Secretary Benson and her child.  The courage these women have shown over the course of the last year in the face of moronic traitors with guns is more than any public official has ever bargained for, but the three of them were all up to the task and more.

Michigan should be proud of our stalwart leadership, and hope for many more years to come from these incredible women.

About that socialism

One of many great Socialist ideas

 Don't know about you, but I sure hope all those folks who voted for Trump because "Socialism!" will be turning down their Social Security checks and eligibility for Medicare.  Also think that any of them who are first time home buyers should turn down that FHA loan and pay premium dollar for their first mortgage.  And college loans--forget the government, go to a bank and get a market based interest rate and pay thousands more over the course of their repayment.  Same thing for anyone starting a business--why use the Small Business Administration when you can get gouged by a for profit bank?  And don't even get me started on all the medical breakthroughs provided by the NIH or the CDC.

I'm not holding my breath--most of those folks who voted republican because "Socialism!" firmly believe in socialism for me but not for thee...especially when the "thee" is black and brown folks.

With each passing day, it becomes more and more obvious that republicans realize they are going to lose this November, and as such are going to do everything they can to leave as big of a mess as they can for Democrats to clean up next year.  From half-assed "negotiations" on the coronavirus relief bill to their insistence on only short term aid (up until, surprise of surprises, election day) republicans seem perfectly content to let their scorched earth view of our economy harm as many Americans as they can.

My guess is they're hoping for a replay of 2010 when the economy hadn't heated up as fast as many had hoped and a too small recovery package doomed Democrats mightily in the mid-term elections.

All of which makes it imperative that we take the Senate so we can set forth robust economic policies to help as many Americans as we possibly can. 

Half measures will need not apply.

Real Americans will be voting for Joe Biden this November

As they showed in Wisconsin, republicans will do anything to cheat this November so as to maintain their fragile grip on power, up to and including making Americans risk their lives just to exercise their right to vote.

What they don't understand is how committed we are to voting--even if I get coronavirus and die, I would consider if the most heroic and patriotic action I've ever taken in my life just to cast my vote for Joe Biden.
