Unreal. Trump proves once again that he's no friend of working Americans saying that he "hated to give overtime" and that instead of paying it he'd bring new staff in. pic.twitter.com/EwhOzzgRKu

The real thieves: Corporate America
Did you know: The annual cost of burglary, robbery, larceny, & auto theft COMBINED is $14B—but the annual cost of wage theft by employers exploiting workers is $50B?

Remember this when media or politicians cite crime but ignore the most costly crime of all—corporate wage theft.

America's real moral crisis
Let's be clear: America's “moral crisis” isn't about pregnancies, contraceptives, or which bathroom people use.

It's obscene CEO pay, wage theft from workers, Wall Street gambling, money corrupting our politics, and the failure of those with power to serve the common good.

Their greed is obscene
Corporate greed is Amazon increasing its profits by 75% last year to a record $35 billion, denying workers a $3 raise, illegally underpaying drivers and blaming a $20 price hike in a Prime membership on "inflation" while Jeff Bezos became $81 billion richer during the pandemic.

Another episode of the poor getting fucked over by the rich
If MSNBC spends an hour on the theft of $150 of steaks, I'm excited for them to spend a proportionate amount of air time on the $8 billion of wage theft that happens in the US yearly. I'm sure that 53,000,000 hours of coverage is gonna start aaaaany second now.

You've got to fight for your right...to get paid

| Dana Nessel--championing your family's economic well-being |
Another in a long line of reasons Democrats are better for Americans than republicans:
Wage theft costs American workers over $50 billion dollars every year ($200 million a year here in Michigan), and Michigan's Attorney General Dana Nessel has drawn a line in the sand...and it's not for corporations or greedy business owners to step over, but rather blocks them from not paying their workers their due wages.
The Payroll Fraud Enforcement Unit has thus far brought suit against 10 Michigan businesses for cheating their workers out of their pay, and it may prove to just be the tip of the iceberg. Two hundred million dollars of earned pay in the pockets of average Michiganders will make a big difference in their family's health and happiness.
Want to guess how many republican Attorneys General we had in Michigan prior to Nessel (republicans have held the office since 2002) who tried to make sure our citizens were not getting cheated out of pay they earned by their sweat and toil?
That would be zero.
Here's hoping Nessel not only gets Michiganders paid their due wages, but that businesses that are stealing from them are rightfully vilified and stigmatized.

Where's the love?
I mention this because I read a piece this week about how wage theft has become an epidemic in America, and I think we can all agree that if an employer tells you they'll pay you X amount of dollars for your time that they'll actually pay you X amount of dollars for your time. Or if they ask you to work eight hours in a day and you work those eight hours, they'll pay you eight hours in wages. But in many workplaces this isn't happening.
Has anybody heard of any republicans starting committees, at either the state or national level, to look into wage theft? I mean they seem to have all kinds of committees for defunding Planned Parenthood, or repealing Obamacare, or about Benghazi, or to get concealed carry laws passed--wouldn't you think people getting paid the wages they've earned would be important, too? Wouldn't you think it was the work of the American people?
It would be easy--they could start by lifting that Bible they're so fond of and looking up that part about "Thou shalt not steal" and then skewering the rat prick bastard employers who are screwing working class Americans out of their earned wages.
Of course, that would involve actually working for the American people, and not so much their wealthy benefactors in the business world.
Not that republicans would care, but I'm pretty sure there's something in that Bible of theirs about caring for your fellow man, too.

McDonald's Crappy Deal
Think about that: they already pay their employees poverty wages but that's not good enough so they're screwing them out of a few extra pennies that have been legally earned to boot. How much fucking better can the powers that be at McDonald's eat that makes them feel the need to take food out of the mouths of their employees' children?
They really should be hitting their knees every night and thanking God their abused employees aren't shooting snot rockets into the special sauce.

Ain't that (corporate) America?
To break it down even further, 64% of low wage workers in American have their pay stolen every week, to an average per worker of $2634 per year.
I don't mean this to sound callous, but how many Union Members do you suppose are the victims of wage theft?
This isn't to blame low wage workers for not joining Unions. It's just another reason why corporate America, the chamber of commerce, right-wing think tanks, et al, do all that they can to keep workers from joining Unions.
As if it isn't bad enough to put up with the shit work conditions and incompetent leadership, they want to fuck workers out of their pay, too.
