And climate change is such a hoax

It’s cool how our big summer thunderstorms show up in the early spring now. Obviously not a problem.

Words, just words

One of the problems we on the left often face is that we assume that most Americans are like most of us--when ninety some odd percent of scientists tell us the planet is getting warmer, we believe them.  Even if you're like me and not particularly adept at science, you respect and trust their years of schooling and the years of research they have conducted.

Alas, most Americans stood on their front porches this past week and watched feet of snow fall and temperatures in the negative teens, and thought to themselves, "What the fuck--global warming?"

There are no reams of weather related statistics or piles of climate change reports in scientific journals that are going to convince most of the non-believers (or most Americans for that matter) that this week's polar ice cap-like weather is proof that global warming exists.  Most Americans are just too literal.

My suggestion?  Stop calling it gobal warming or climate change and call it "global weather chaos."

That's a term that most Americans could look out their front window after the numerous weather related phenomena we see over the course of a year and proclaim to themselves, "Damn right to that!"

Tonight's top story...

I thoroughly believe the reason the remote control was invented was because of local newscasts.  Personally, I can watch about five seconds worth before I'm reaching for the knitting needles to pierce my eardrums.  It's a panorama of idiots and idiocy.

So I wasn't surprised that a recent Rolling Stone assessment of local news cited a study that showed half of our hometown weather forecasters do not believe climate change is happening

For fuck's sake, the people who run, report, and broadcast local newscasts couldn't sniff a fart and detect an odor.  Denying scientific fact comes as naturally to them as incompetence.

Not quite Forrest Gump

Because, you know, while Forrest Gump may have been as dim-witted as a squirrel, at least he had a heart.

Sen. Jeff Sessions (see also, Alfred E. Neumann) is offended--fucking offended, I tell you--by facts.  Seems he just has his puny brain all in a snit because Sen. Barbara Boxer--unlike her republican colleagues--decided to have a committee meeting based on scientific facts.

What's really frightening is that the people of Alabama are so fucking stupid that they'll re-elect this utter moron with better than 60% of the vote.  When did being stupid become a desired quality in our elected leaders?

Never mind--it's the fucking American south.  They're not even smart enough to understand how badly Sen. Boxer bitch slapped his dumb ass.

And neither is he.

Say You, Say Me--Part II

Say You:

Rex Tillerson, CEO of Exxon-Mobil and multimillionaire said this week when speaking to the Council of Foregin Relations in New York City that we, as a society, could "adapt" to global warming and that its effects would be "manageable."

Say Me:

Let's ask those 300+ families in Colorado whose homes have been destroyed by the recent wildfires how well their homes "adapted" and if having all that they own destroyed by raging fires is "manageable."  This is just another in a long line of self-serving sentiments from corporate America, entities which do not give a good goddamn about America or Americans.  Frankly, the effects of global warming on someone of Mr. Tillerson's wealth would probably be manageable--but when you're watching 90% of your family's net worth float into the Atlantic Ocean or a sand dune in your backyard that used to be a grassy hill your kids could sled down on snowy days in winter ("Mommy, what's winter?") in a home that's worth pennies on the dollar because its in the middle of the fucking desert, it won't seem so manageable.

I do have a solution to Mr. Tillerson's thoughtlessness, though--since he will more than likely be long gone by the time the full effects of global warming have decimated the planet, let's make a pact to tie his descendants to the Saharan palm trees dotting what used to be New York City, and let them eat all the sandburgers they can stomach.

Ground control to Major Tom

Anybody who actually believes the bullshit in the headline in this piece by Laurence Lewis ("The GOP war on science should be the Democrat's greatest political weapon"), shouldn't be let near any Democratic campaign other than before the most uber-liberal of voting blocs.

Forty-six percent of Americans don't believe in evolution.  Half of all Americans in the most Christian nation on earth can't name the writers of the four gospels.  Twenty-five percent of all teachers in America believe that dinosaurs and humans co-existed.

This entire theme of somehow convincing the American voting public through reasoning and intelligence has been a loser for as long as I can remember.  And this doofus thinks, in a nation absolutely getting its clock cleaned in science by other industrialized nations, in a nation where we practically are begging children to go into scientific fields, that this is going to somehow, miraculously, garner the Democrats votes.

Good fucking luck with that one.

A bit of levity

"Dinosaurs may have farted themselves to extinction, according to a new study from British scientists."

This may be a bit of bullshit as it was posted on the Fox News website, but the Beautiful Boy and I haven't laughed like we laughed after reading it since, well, we saw this painting by Andy Warhol.

The sense of humor of a seven-year-old--you gotta love it.
