And the horse you rode in on

Thanks, but no thanks, Gov. Snyder

It's kind of surprising, in light of our primary elections here in Michigan this past Tuesday, that no pundits are noting that on the republican side, GOP voters soundly rejected our current Governor, Rick Snyder.  Despite all his supporters claims of a Michigan comeback led by Snyder (dubious, at best), his hand picked successor, Brian Calley, barely topped 25% and fell woefully short of republican nominee and Trump sycophant Bill Schuette's 50%.

But when you poison thousands of children in a major city, hire companies that feed maggots to our prisoners, and raise taxes on the elderly to give tax cuts to corporations to create non-existent jobs, and your state's roads remain among the poorest in the nation, it probably isn't so surprising that your heir apparent fares so poorly amongst the electorate.

Here's hoping that in November's general election plenty more Michiganders see through the republican bullshit and send Schuette packing as well--Governor Gretchen (Whitmer) has a nice ring to it.

Governor Albatross

Thanks but no thanks--eight years of republican boobs is enough

Michigan's next election for governor is just a little more than seven months away and current Lt. Governor Brian Calley has just released his first ad featuring our current Governor, Rick Snyder...who, despite claims of a Michigan "comeback," will most be remembered for poisoning Flint's children, feeding maggot infested food to our inmates, and allowing Detroit Public Schools to deteriorate so badly that fungus in the school's bathrooms flourishes better than Detroit's students.

Right wing nutjob and our current Attorney General, Bill Schuette, was quick to denounce the ads, but one seriously has to wonder why--Snyder's approval rating is underwater and in the age of Donald Trump, one can't imagine the republican base being interested in pantywaists like Calley and Snyder.

Still, good times for Democrats--the Snyder administration's incompetence isn't quite up to the Trump administration's standards, but it should be enough to at least give us a chance in an off year election this November.

Too stupid or a conniving prick?

Well, now, here's a surprise:  seems republicans, unhappy with another initiative, this one to enshrine collective bargaining rights into the Michigan constitution, have had intrepid Attorney General Bill Schuette investigate and his opinion is...

...that the initiative is too complicated for the hundred words it is allowed on the ballot.  As if it wasn't bad enough that Michigan republicans embarrassed us and cost us dearly in recruiting businesses and talent to a state that's looking more and more like Rubesville with their supremely brilliant (and ultimately defeated) ruse that the fucking font size was wrong for the Emergency Manager Law Repeal Initiative, now we're supposed to believe the labor rights initiative is just too much for us poor working folk to understand.

Now, Mr. Schuette is a republican, and it may be beyond most of their members meager mental capabilities, but I'm pretty sure most of us know exactly what this is:  another in a long line of republicans using any gimmick they can think of to subvert democracy and the will of the people to protect their corporate benefactors.

I mean heaven forbid we tell those benefactors to pound salt up their ass like the wise folks in Ohio did in repealing SB5.

Shock: Another republican dipshit in Michigan

"If you love Greece right now, you're going to love the second term of Obama."  Bill Schuette, Michigan Attorney General

Leaving aside the fact that being Attorney General of the state of Michigan makes one as qualified to discuss economic policy as  the village idiot to explain string theory, I don't know if I can take another six months of republican lies that by some miracle will get through to 45-49% of American voters who will actually cast their ballots for the party that's guaranteed to make their economic well-being worse.

Even the Europeans are beginning to see the error of their ways--economic contraction, runaway unemployment, double dip recession.  Not that if anybody in a position of power had been listening to Paul Krugman for months, and probably years, we'd probably be in much better shape economically than we are now.  The last action we need to be taking while still in the throes of an economic downturn is to be cutting government spending--we should be spending money to prop up the economy.  But true to form--much like their benfactors, corporate America--the republicans will continue to be penny wise and pound foolish.

And Americans will continue to suffer needless economic hardship because of them.
