Corporate America is fucking us every day

Walmart hiked prices on its Great Value food brands.

The result? Its net income spiked 93% to $10.5 billion towards the end of 2023.

Walmart rewarded shareholders with $5.9 billion in buybacks and dividends.

When I say price gouging is driving inflation, this is what I mean.

Price gouging, plain and simple

Kellogg's raised prices 14% from Q2 2022 to Q2 2023.

The company then reported better than expected profits and execs shared plans to spend more on stock buybacks and larger dividends.

News flash: Corporations have been using inflation as cover to squeeze more money out of you.

There is no length they won’t go to funnel money to their shareholders, at the expense of workers. The problem, as always, is corporate greed.

Starbucks could give every one of its 383,000 workers a $5,000 bonus & still keep $2.6 billion in profits from last year. Instead they're raising prices while spending $20 billion on stock buybacks & dividends when profits are up 31%. Don't blame inflation. Blame corporate greed.

Thanks for clearing that up

Apparently, not investing in your company for the long term and laying off workers has another benefit for corporate CEOs:  that money can be used for stock buybacks which raise the price of stocks and help increase CEO bonuses!

I'm not sure which scares me the most about this trend.  It's either the fact that I read the piece and thought, "Holy shit!  That's exactly like the company I work for!" or that I have been saying for years that corporations lip service to "customers" is just so much bullshit because if they could find a way to make more money without customers, they would and now they've figured out how to do just that.

Either way, it's a lose-lose proposition for an awful lot of folks.
