Fuck you, Mr. Trump

Republican leadership on its way to work

Rather than do their fucking job--which, by the way, is to look after the best interests of the American people--Donald Trump and his band of misanthropes (better known as the republican party) are purposely sabotaging Obamacare by shutting down all of its lines of communications with five days remaining in the signup period so they can attempt to paint it as a failure.

And here's a big fuck you to the lot of them--the truth, my friends, is indeed out there:

A nitwit is still a nitwit

Watching the republicans celebrate sending an Obamacare repeal to the President's desk so he can veto it faster than Flash Gordon can circle the globe is a bit like watching cows perform a ballet--it might make the cows feel good but it doesn't do jackshit for humanity.

And isn't doing nothing for America really what the republican party is all about?

Owning up

After 8000 votes to repeal Obamacare (slight exaggeration for the sarcasm challenged), it was really rich to hear republicans whine today about Democrat's holding a "political vote" on the Paycheck Fairness Act.  Because our Senate is so dysfunctional (and to a degree, because Democrats lack a strong enough spine), the Paycheck Fairness Act failed today despite having 54 votes for to 43 against.  Remember, this is an Act that the American public supports overwhelmingly.

You'd be hard pressed to come up with any significant legislation the modern republican party has enacted which benefitted ordinary Americans.  The plain truth of the matter is that the Paycheck Fairness Act, and likewise, votes to raise the minimum wage, are core Democratic Party values, and that republicans lack the guts to tell the American people what they really feel--that they're fine with women making less than men for doing the same job, and that they don't care if people can work full-time hours and still make little enough to live below the poverty level, as long as their corporate backers keep sending the checks.

It's not about politics--it's about our core values versus their core values.  It's not our fault if the the majority of Americans think the republican party's core values suck.

Come on now...celebration

Despite several thousand repeal votes, unprecedented republican threats to shut down the government, zillions of Koch brothers dollars, misinformation on an historic scale from Faux News, and the best efforts of professional nutjobs like Michelle Bachman, Sarah Palin, and Ted Cruz, enrollments for Obamacare reached the projected goal of 7 million before yesterday's cutoff date.

The President and many congressional Democrats rightfully took a victory lap today.  As it's not likely to be much of a year for celebrating Democratic victories (hoping against hope, though), might as well put on your dancing shoes tonight:

Incompetence or antipathy for their fellow Americans?

We have 7.5% unemployment (much higher if you count the hopeless and hopeful for more hours).  One in six Americans live in poverty.  Our roads, bridges, and schools are in terrible disrepair.  Twenty children were shot to death by a lunatic six months ago.  Income inequality between the rich and the poor in America are at historic highs.

So what do republicans in the House and Senate want to do?  Hold another series of votes to repeal Obamacare, which has a snowball's chance in hell of getting 51 votes (and more likely 60) in the Senate, and even less of a chance (if that's possible) of being signed by the man whose signature accomplishment the Affordable Care Act is, President Obama.  It's not bad enough that they've already wasted fifty million dollars of U.S. taxpayers money to accomplish even less than I do on my Sunday afternoon naps, they want to spend more of it to get the exact same result.

All of which goes to show that the republican party's only goal is to please that thirty percent of Americans who are gullible and ignorant enough to swallow their rich man's world view; as far as the other 70% of us are concerned, well, we can just flat out go to hell.

This is your republican party...

...and you can fucking have them. Seems there will be a vote tomorrow on repealing healthcare reform. Never fucking mind that more people are in favor of expanding it than repealing it. Never fucking mind that a mere 17% of Americans consider it a priority for Congress (46% think it's jobs, 34% protecting Medicare and Social Security). Never fucking mind that the republicans have absolutely no alternative to the current plan. Never fucking mind that there is no way in hell President Obama will ever sign it and they have no chance at getting 2/3 of Congress to override the veto. They're going to have a big ass vote over a lot of big ass nothing. And this is helping the American people how? This is listening to the American people how? This is going to create jobs how? The toadies for the healthcare industry march on at our expense. Peace, emaycee
