IMO this is about two things; oil and distraction. The US doesn’t produce much heavy crude, but its refinery base is tilted towards that. Venezuela has heavy crude in abundance. Trump needs to distract away from reports of his failing health, the Epstein files, & affordability/healthcare premiums
