While I was having some (thankfully) minor car repair work done today, the TV in the auto shop was turned to MSNBC and a gentleman (debatable) from Pennsylvania was being interviewed about his support for Donald Trump.  The questioner asked if there was anything Trump could do to lose his support and the man said only if Trump suddenly got really stupid but that was never going to happen (see also, Dunning-Kruger effect).

I nearly spit my partial plate out of my mouth with laughter.

I thought of the man from Pennsylvania as I read another postmortem of the Senate Intelligence Report released this week which proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that not only was Donald Trump colluding with the Russians, but his entire fucking family was as well.  And his campaign staff.

I'd like to think if a Democratic President was colluding with another country I'd have the moral decency to call for his resignation and seek out another candidate, but that's just me.

I guess I'm just not a fucking moron.

The outer limits

Donald Trump, circa November 2020?

First it was Michael Cohen suggesting that should Trump lose in 2020 that he may not go gentle in that good night, and now Nancy Pelosi has made it known that Democrats are making a plan of action should Trump lose a close election and refuse to leave office.

Can we just take a step back and admit how unbelievably fucked up this is?  I mean for all the talk about how unhinged the recent republican party has become, it's a party that's been sliding off the rails since probably the 70's (and definitely by the 80's with the Reagan devolution), yet not one of their candidates since that time ever even so much as hinted as to not accepting the voters' will.  And our ever incompetent national media seems to think this is just so much bluster...though coming from the man who separated children from their parents and in all likelihood colluded with a known enemy of the United States, you'd think they'd have learned by now.

One thing's for sure--should it come to pass we on the left had better be ready with actions a lot bolder than marching in the streets or we'll risk losing our democracy forever.

Former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn pleads guilty to lying to the FBI about his contacts with Russian agents.

Former Trump campaign chair Paul Manafort convicted on eight counts of felony fraud.

Former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen reaches a plea agreement on banking and tax fraud, as well as campaign finance.

Rep. Chris Collins (R-What else?), Trump's first congressional supporter is arrested on charges of insider trading.

Rep. Duncan Hunter (R-Who would have guessed?), another early Trump supporter, is indicted (with his wife) for spending $250,000 in campaign funds on themselves.

Want to guess what republican congressional candidates are circulating amongst themselves these days in an effort to gin up their base in preparation for November?  A list of all the potential investigations the Democrats could open (over 100 of them) should they win the House in this year's midterm elections.  The horror!

Newsflash for the aforementioned congressional candidates:  It's called oversight, and it's not a campaign issue.

It's in your fucking job description.

Apparently the graphic posted above is one that Trump's supporters have been sending out in lieu of the convictions of Paul Manafort and Michael Cohen, and I have to admit that I like it very much.  I really hope they do continue not caring!

Because the rest of us, well, we're going to keep right on caring about the rule of law and what it really means to be an American and not some common hoodlum.  And we're going to take that caring right into November and take back the House and the Senate.  And in two years, while they're still not busy caring, we're going to keep right on caring until we have all three branches of government and begin to once again do the work of the American people and not the pampered wealthy elite.

And then all you nitwits who supported the racist pervert can return to the land of Oblivion where you so rightfully belong.
