In Germany, teaching the Holocaust is mandatory. It includes visits to concentration camp, museums, etc. They don’t shy away from their own ugly history. Yet the kids aren’t damaged; they’re strengthened, matured, humbled. US needs to do same re slavery. Not that complicated.

Back to the future

Mene, mene, tekel, peres...

 I try--but don't always necessarily succeed--to not be alarmist in my blog posts.  Oftentimes in the world of politics, our worst fears are not realized, and just as often, do not reach levels that are more than just worrisome.  This is not one of those times.

Take a good look at the picture above.  When you have people who show up at rallies for Donald Trump that are eerily reminiscent of Hitler's rallies in Nazi Germany, when you have people who refuse to believe the fact that Donald Trump lost the 2020 Presidential Election despite there being absolutely no evidence that he won, when you have people working in your government who are actively trying to destroy the country from within, and when you have people who refuse to look out for their fellow countryman in the wake of a pandemic, you have the same makings for a people to look upon anyone who is not like them as being nothing more than animals to be led to their slaughter.  Anyone who does not believe the current incarnation of the GOP is inching closer and closer to becoming America's version of Nazi Germany is kidding themselves.

If the republicans take the House and Senate in 2022, and Trump the White House in 2024, people of color, Jews, atheists, Liberals, and anyone who isn't a white Christian will be facing a future much like the one in the photo above.

And considering the inhuman sickness currently permeating the republican party, it will make Auschwitz look like a bicycle ride on a warm spring day.

While children--children--are being left in cages without adult supervision, sleeping on cold floors, without being able to bathe, and going hungry, the Trump administration is arguing that they shouldn't have to provide the children with soap and toothpaste.  Note that the Geneva convention requires nations to provide such to prisoners of war, who are in actuality captives who were shooting at their captors, but Donald Trump is arguing that we shouldn't have to provide such to children whose parents have come here merely to seek a better  and safer life for themselves and their children.

And republicans want to excoriate Alexandria Occasio-Cortez for calling these prisons for what they are:  CONCENTRATION CAMPS.

With each passing day it seems we are coming this close--holding thumb and index finger a quarter inch apart--to completely coming off the rails as a country where freedom and justice mean so much to so many...and well on our way to becoming a nation where freedom and justice only apply to the white and the wealthy.

Breaking: Hitler endorses Trump!

Shout, shout, let it all out...

As regular readers (both of you) know, I am no fan of Joe Biden's candidacy for the Democratic nomination for President, but when the Trump administration this week trotted out lying sack of shit Sarah Huckabee Sanders to tell the American people that Korean despot Kim Jong Un agreed with Donald Trump's assessment that Biden would be a poor national leader, well, it was just a little more than I could stomach.

Kim Jong Un, it is estimated, through executions (100,000), concentration camps (1.5 million), and famine brought about by his administration's draconian economic policies (500,000) has murdered 2.1 million of his people.  That the White House spokesperson is citing him to support the President's viewpoint IS NOT FUCKING NORMAL, PEOPLE!

And a big shout out to our national media for reacting to a murderous dictator being used to prop up a flailing Donald Trump as it if were just another day in paradise.

Fucking pathetic.
