Even more Trump giving to the rich, fucking over the rest of us

Trump and Republicans got rid of the CFPB's $5 cap on overdraft fees, allowing big banks to keep raking in profits off of struggling Americans. So just how much money are banks taking from consumers with these predatory fees? @sanders.senate.gov, @blumenthal.senate.gov, and I are finding out.

Despicable them

Their greed has no bounds

Apparently the $2.5 billion dollar windfall republicans handed to Big Banks in the tax law they passed last year isn't quite enough for the greedy fuckers--a report released this week by Goldman Sachs shows Big Banks are worried that the cures that are and will be generated by the Human Genome Project will cost them on their bottom line.

The really big story this week shouldn't be about that idiot Kanye West, but rather that America's Big Banks think it's perfectly acceptable to question curing human beings if it hurts their profits.

I do not believe there is a level of disgust yet created that would be too much to be directed at these heartless bastards.

All the small things

He's actually nicer than your average republican...

It really isn't a small thing, but once again republicans have voted for Big Business and it will cost average Americans dearly.  In the dead of night on Tuesday, republicans repealed a Consumer Financial Protection Bureau rule that made it easier for the little guy to sue banks (via class action lawsuits) and prevented banks and financial institutions from making their customers accept forced arbitration clauses, which means...if Wells-Fargo opens fake accounts in your name unless you have the wherewithal to afford a lawyer on your own (not most of us) that can compete with a multinational corporation's massive legal department, you're fucked.  Or if Equifax manages to get hacked and gives away all of your personal information, and they want to take you to binding arbitration...you're fucked.

"Christian" Mike Pence cast the deciding vote that made it much easier for banks to screw Americans--if there's a special place in hell for Christians who are anything but, Pence will be the first one admitted.

This is another in a long line of republican actions that don't get much press coverage, like their passage of right to work for less laws in numerous states, which show their true loyalty to an unfettered capitalism which results in all of us having less legal recourse against Corporate America and and a lot less money in our pockets.

By the way, thanks to republicans, credit union here I come!

This is why the economy collapsed

A recent poll showed that 87% of banking executives think the collapse of the economy in 2008 was the fault of the poorest 50% of Americans--who combined hold 1% of America's assets.  The sheer idiocy of their belief is beyond comprehension for mere mortals.

Much as we all found out in the aftermath of the Great Recession. a combination of ignorance and arrogance is lethal for the economic interests of ordinary Americans.

And it's yet another reason that one of the first priorities of either Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders needs to be the break up of the Big Banks.

And the problem is?

Seems the big banks are getting all whiny because Elizabeth Warren rightfully keeps calling for them to be broken into a million little pieces and so they're going to take all their toys and go home under the guise of threatening to not make campaign contributions to Senate Democrats.

Considering that outside of the thirty percent of Americans who conform to the republican party like brainwashed Moonies, the rest of us trust big banks to look out for our best interests just slightly more than we'd trust Charles Manson to do the same, I just don't see how this is a negative.

I'm more than happy to let republicans be the sole champion of big banks--just another nail in their coffin.

Ring, ring goes the bell

This past week, Germany ended college tuition fees for all its citizens and for international students.

The thing that amazes me the most--and this may be because I'm an American, and as a nation, we're anything but--is how forward thinking this is for a nation (note that the link mentions many other EU nations have done the same).  This is a virtual guarantee of a chance at a better future, better life, and a better country for every student in Germany, and without being saddled with the $1.2 trillion of debt that American students are stuck with.

It means more doctors, more lawyers, more teachers, and more consumer spending to make Germany's economy grow faster instead of tons of students loans payments going to Big Banks.

And therein lies the rub--as long as we're beholden to Corporate America and Big Business, the chances of America being anything more than a country of the rich, by the rich, and for the rich are nil.

Pay it forward, indeed.
