True greatness

What a real President looks like
Barack Obama gave an eloquent and moving eulogy at John Lewis' funeral yesterday, and--cue me looking completely unsurprised--republicans are having a hissy fit because he--gasp!--made it political.

You know what's really pissing them off?  The fact that President Obama was a true President, a gifted leader who guided America through one of its greatest crises with the calm sturdy hand that this nation needed.  And that he was intelligent, caring, a good husband and father, and a man whose oratory gifts moved a nation.

And having to relive all that, knowing that their leader, Donald Trump, completely failed his greatest political test and is basically a worthless tub of shit.

Own it, chickenshits.

Fuck Donald Trump,

What a mighty good man

Another profile in courage

You know what the Democratic Party needs?  One whole hell of a lot more folks like John Lewis.  Do you know the courage it takes to go on national TV and say that you think Donald Trump is an illegitimate President?  In this day and age in America, when half the republican party thinks they have a constitutional right to shoot you to death because they don't like the color of your shirt?  When white men have become emboldened by his election to think they can proclaim the most racist vitriol toward anyone who rightfully challenges their worldview?

There hasn't been a whole hell of a lot to celebrate since last November's election, but when you watch men like John Lewis take a stand for all of us, you can't help but think we might just have a chance after all.

Amateur hour for republicans

Am I the only one who noticed that in addition to having the moral high ground, the John Lewis led sit-in over gun control yesterday in the House of Representatives absolutely schooled republicans in what it means to be part of a political party?

While Democrats were literally fighting to save American lives, republicans led by Paul Ryan were puckering their lips to place them on Wall Street's ass.  It was like watching the Avengers do battle with the Three Stooges.

And after yesterday's doings in the House, it should be perfectly obvious to most Americans that the Democratic Party is the most fit to govern.
